Some of the local stores are already advertising their Back To School Deals:  (NOTE:  I’ve only included deals that appear to last into September 2015 so that this post is relavant for the entire “school shopping season”.  You may find weekly deals that are better- but I don’t always have time to drop everything and hit the weekly sales at a particular store.  So I looked for “longer term” opportunities to save some money.

Expo Low-Odor Dry Erase Markers, Fine Point, 12-Pack, Black $5.79-$6.78.  I was confused about pricing but either way that’s a great price for Expo Brand.  The Dollar Tree near me has 2 CHEAP brand of markers for $1 so this is very comparable and Free Shipping if you’re a member of Amazon Prime.
