During my recent trip to Utah, I had a nice amount of free time to explore the city. On one sunny afternoon I make the 5-10 minute walk from my hotel to Temple Square. This really is a square of property, with a fence around it.
Temple Square is the headquarters of the Mormon Church. I work for a global company, with people from all over the world. I find different religions extremely interesting. Luckily Temple Square has missionaries on hand to answer questions and point you in the right direction. Non-Mormons can’t go inside the temple but there are a LOT of buildings and spaces you CAN go in.
The temple is enormously beautiful. It is surrounded by fountains, flowers and statues. Unless you plan to make use of the Family History Library, a visit doesn’t require tons of time. One thing I missed out on, just because I was so exhausted… was the Thursday Night open practice of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Their Thursday practices are open to the public. I was so exhausted I forgot all about it and went back to my hotel.. that was a sad moment 🙂
There were several weddings in Temple Square the night I was there, so I didn’t take as many photos as normal. If you’re heading to Salt Lake, check out the link for Temple Square for more travel info.
